“O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth lawful and tayyib.”
โ Surah al-Baqarah 2:168
The principle applies to our pets too โ the animals we're responsible for. Here is exactly how we verify halal, line by line.
The four pillars
Every gram of meat protein comes from an animal slaughtered by a Muslim invoking the name of Allah, with a sharp blade severing the trachea and jugular in a single stroke. We reject any 'mechanically slaughtered' or 'stunned-then-recited' meat.
Emulsifiers, gelatin, glycerin, enzymes and flavorings โ the hidden villains of pet food โ are traced to plant, fish or halal-animal origins. No exceptions.
Many industrial preservatives and vitamin premixes use ethanol as a solvent. We source ethanol-free premixes, verified by supplier declarations and third-party lab testing.
Our co-packers operate 100% halal lines. When shared equipment exists, it is deep-cleaned per JAKIM protocol between runs โ audited quarterly.
Certifying bodies
Depending on the country your order ships from, one of the following bodies certifies your product.
Department of Islamic Development Malaysia
The gold standard globally. Audits our Selangor plant twice yearly, verifies every zabihah lamb shipment, and issues a halal certificate per production batch.
Majelis Ulama Indonesia
Our Indonesian fulfillment partner in Bekasi is MUI-audited. MUI is one of the world's strictest bodies on cross-contamination between halal and non-halal lines.
Halal Food Council of Europe
HFCE certifies our European co-manufacturers in Poland and the Netherlands, ensuring EU-fulfilled orders arrive with a Europe-recognized certificate.
Frequently asked questions
Do pets actually need halal food?
Islamic scholars differ, but a growing consensus (see Dar al-Ifta Egypt, 2019; JAKIM guidance 2021) recommends halal feeding because (a) haram substances can transfer to the owner via saliva/handling, and (b) the animal is entrusted (amanah) to a Muslim, so tayyib care is preferred.
How is 'halal fish food' possible when fish are always halal?
Fish flesh itself is halal, but commercial fish food often contains pork-derived binders, non-halal shrimp meal (haram if the shrimp/farm animal was fed haram), or alcohol-based vitamin premixes. Our certification covers the full supply chain.
Can I see the actual certificates?
Yes โ every shipment includes a printed batch certificate, and PDFs are downloadable in your account after purchase.
What about vegan pet food?
Some of our small-pet and fish blends are plant-based and still require halal certification (for solvents, preservatives, and cross-contamination). Look for the '100% plant-based' badge.
